The Diary of a 21st Century nobody - Best laid plans.

Why is that when you have finally screwed up the courage and motivation to do something, everything else immediately conspires to work against you??

Yesterday was the first day of my new healthy eating regime. The plan is to get fitter, eat more healthily, and shed a few unwanted pounds (in weight) along the way. Yesterday was also the day that husband and I received an invitation to a 4 course business dinner at one of the top local restaurants in the city! It was also the day on which our son advised us that, for his birthday tea next week, he wanted us all to go to Harry Ramsden's famous fish and chip restaurant. Aaagh!!! how can this be? Still,I gave myself a positive pep talk about choosing the healthiest options on a menu, and not partaking of some of the courses, plus the fact that having 1 bad-eating day (even though this would,in fact, mean 2 bad-eating days!) did NOT mean that the whole project would fall apart.

I got myself kitted out in jogging trousers, t shirt and ipod ready for a jog around the block, only to discover that the laces on my training shoes had chosen today, of all days, to break; not 1 shoe lace could I find in the whole of this shoe-ridden house! Not 1!!! So, it was necessary to dig out an old fitness dvd (no, this is not my first attempt at healthy living, and unlikely to be the last in view of the appalling start I have experienced so far!), draw the curtains, and stretch muscles I never even knew I had.....And that was how I badly bruised one foot when I clattered it into the brass fire surround, and then sprained the ankle of my other foot as I lost my balance as a result of the first incident!

And this is supposed to be healthy????

So, ankle suitably bandaged, and feeling decidedly sorry for myself, I burden my dear friend Shelly with my tale of woe. She, being the wonderful friend she is, promises to call around to the house to share my misery and arrives with a delicious selection of fresh cream cakes to make me feel better..............
