Broke! – notes
This poem describes a situation that many people will probably recognise, especially in the current financial climate that the world is experiencing. The poet does not deal seriously with the issue, but approaches the subject in a comical and light hearted fashion. In order to maintain this light feeling, the writer has peppered the prose with lots of financial idioms and even some Cockney rhyming slang. Did you spot them?
