Jul. 3 – Ingrid Betancourt is reunited with her children; three American hostages arrive home.
Betancourt was released along with 14 others including three American defense contractors who were rescued from leftist guerrillas by Colombian troops posing as aid workers.SOUNDBITE: Released hostage Ingrid Betancourt, saying (Spanish):
