ELTMentor News
Here’s our weekly digest of forum comments, upcoming dates and other snippets of useful information.
First of all a big thank you to Shelly for Monday’s webinar which despite all the technical problems was very helpful and informative. If the session has thrown up any questions for you then please post these on the forum and we can answer or explore further.
I apologise for all the technical hitches – everything went well in the test run – sods law! Thank you for your patience.
Here are the links from the seminar:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NajbF7L0LKo (video on connecting)
blog4edu.pbworks.com (wiki)
wikispaces.com another wiki site but with ads and also less good to use with kids
tweetdeck.com for twitter easy to organise your tweets and use #hashtags *
@suewaters Sue Waters is good to follow and check her out online for help with blogging
You should be able to listen again to the recording which is not too bad. I’m going to edit it a little and then get all the recordings together for you to download.
* I’ve started a hashtag #eltmentor on twitter for you to comment to this group and also ask any questions about the webinar on blogging.
I suggest you sign up to tweetdeck if you haven’t already (if you are not on twitter you need to do this first) and post a comment there. If you need any help with this let me know.
Post a couple of tweets with #eltmentor at the end (my first is ‘hi there everyone 🙂 #eltmentor’) – they are public but with the hashtag it will restrict it so we’ll see.
I think it would be good to use it as a Q&A from the webinar.
The Forum
It’s really great that everyone is using the forum and there are some good suggestions for topics there from Connie and Marcia.
If you’re having problems with this let me know (there is also a Gapfillers Forum within the site which is confusing – I will combine them eventually).
Topic Suggestions:
Connie’s – suggestion is for Split level classes great topic
Marcia’s for REALLY young learners (3 – 6) another interesting topic
I’ll add these to the teleseminar list.
Gapfillers
Do feel free to use anything from the site for your teaching. If you get any comments from students or have any comments yourself about any of the content please let me know.
Presentation slides
My slides from Advanced Learners and Shelly’s on blogging are now online for you to download if you wish. Go to Member Home in Gapfillers then networks, ELTMentor and you will find them listed under documents – you should be able to download them from there.
Dates coming up
Our next teleseminar is on July 25th at 12.00. I’ll send out details nearer the time. We’ll be looking at teaching one to one.
After that we meet on August 29th.
I’ve kept the dates lean in the summer because of holidays and I’ve done the same in Dec/Jan.
OK. Don’t forget to post under the twitter hashtag and once everybody has found it then we can organise a mini Q&A
