ELTMentor News
Here’s our weekly digest of forum comments, upcoming dates and other snippets of useful information.
This week’s half-day training
Sorry about all the confusion over the half-day session! I know now that some are available but others not so I have decided not to go ahead this week and make an executive decision!
You know about the camel being an animal designed by a committee – well this is becoming an exercise in herding cats and it’s all my fault for trying to be too democratic (we’ve all been there!)
So, as I now find myself free next weekend can we do Sunday October 2nd at 2.00 – I’ll send out the timetable after Monday’s session so as not to confuse too much.
Past recordings
Sorry to those of you who haven’t managed to access these.
I thought I’d given you all the necessary permissions but Elena pointed out to me that this has to be done for each person at each session so I am rectifying this now.
I hope to have all the recordings re-done on ppt next month.
The Forum
Thank you for getting back to the forum and posting.
Can anybody who hasn’t yet please post up a short bio? We can’t wait to find out all about you 🙂
Here’s the link again:
If you haven’t managed to find the forum yet let me know.
#eltmentor
I will do a session on this during our half day training. We will get on to twitter and practice using this hashtag.
If you want to have a go before hand here are the instructions for signing up
(Sign up to twitter, then sign up to tweetdeck and post a comment there. If you need any help with this let me know).
#eltchat
We will also be looking at eltchat during our half-day training but it might be worth checking this out before hand.
For those of you who would like to follow #eltchat but haven’t signed up to twitter and would prefer to ‘lurk’ and observe before taking the plunge, you can observe #eltchat on Tweetchat.com. Here is the link:
When you get to the site add eltchat to the # box. You can then sit back and watch the action! If you want to contribute you can sign in but this is really the best place for smart lurking :-0
#eltchat is held on Wednesdays at 12.00 and 21.00 UK time – but the # is in use at all times so you can check in anytime to see what is going on.
To find out more about eltchat here is a link to the site – even if you don’t attend the chat you can get great information and links to resources via this site:

Don’t forget to give me feedback if you use the site for yourself or with students. Also if you have suggestions they’re always welcome 🙂
We are planning to run the Murder Mystery game again soon – keep your eyes open for announcements.
If you have any students interested then just tell them to contact me mentioning you and I’ll sort everything out for them.
Just a reminder that we do offer a school licence so if your school has advanced students (if wants to use it for teachers) this is possible – just let me know.
We can also syndicate content which means we can deliver straight to your school site or intranet.
Next Session Monday September 26th 12.00 p.m. UK time
Our topic will be dealing with difficult students – I hope you don’t have this problem! I will be looking at ‘needy’ students as well as those who don’t play ball. I don’t have a lot of experience about discipline in the classroom as I have mostly taught adults so I may have a longer Q&A at the end when you can share your experiences.
You should all have received an invitation but here is the link:

Need help with anything?
If anybody else needs help with anything just post in the forum, or on twitter or email me or send a message in Gapfillers. I am really pleased that you are using the forum – let’s get more things posted to discuss.
Don’t forget to put any suggestions in the forum, this is your space to share ideas, experiences and ask questions. It’s been a little quiet there recently it would be good to get it buzzing again!
Until next week
