Here is a suggested version of the extract:

 

….. My Father looked like he had lost a lot of weight. His behaviour also did not seem to be making any sense as he was laughing a lot and then rambling, would speak very quickly. I sat by the bed and turned on the T.V with the remote control. After a period of quiet he reached and put his hand on the back of my head, at this I thought his medication was working and perhaps he was getting better.

Then he said, "Whose is this dog in here?" and he ruffled my hair. I nearly started to laugh when my mother replied, "Darling, it’s Oli. Oli and Basti have come to see you."

He just looked at us like he had not even noticed us there before and made me think about where he had gone.
