……. Daddy looked really skinny. He was laughing a lot and talking fast. None of it made sense. I sat by the bed and switched the telly on with the remote control. He was quiet for a minute, then he put his hand on the back of my head. I thought that the medicine had worked and he was better. Then he said, "Whose is this dog in here?" and he messed up my hair. I nearly laughed. Mummy said, "Darling, it’s Oli. Oli and Basti have come to see you." He looked at us like he hadn’t noticed us there before. I wondered where Daddy had gone………
