The year is racing by, and Winter has begun for many countries. As the weather worsens and the days grow shorter, it is an ideal time to settle down indoors to some English language practise……and then treat yourself with a cup of hot chocolate, complete with 2 or 3 marshmallows which you can float on top of the hot chocolate and allow to melt, creating a wonderfully sweet and sticky topping. This month we are featuring an extract from a novel by one of England’s most famous female authors – Charlotte Bronte. Read an extract from Jane Eyre, and learn a bit more about the Bronte sisters. |
Poetry also features this month – is this a poem about an old English tradition? Or is it a metaphor for something far less whimsical? Take a look, and find out…..There’s a grammar exercise about sport, and an article about horse riding which will expand your vocabulary.Meanwhile, in the Diary, our 21st Century mother is feeling the pressure of preparing for Christmas, and remembering some childhood and family traditions. So, whatever the weather or the Season, take some time out from your busy schedule, and enjoy the features we have prepared for you this month…It will hardly seem as if you are working at all!! |
