smallholder – person who owns or runs a smallholding
smallholding – piece of land, smaller than a farm, used for the cultivation of vegetables or the breeding of animals
back-to-basics / back to basics – describes a return to essential standards or principles
sourcing – the supply of resources needed in a business process
humane – showing kindness, care and sympathy towards others, especially those who are suffering
slaughter – verb – rhymes with water – kill an animal for meat
champion – verb – support, defend or fight for a person, belief, right or principle enthusiastically. Eg He championed the abolition of slavery.
an underdog – a person who has little status in society, or a competitor who has little chance of winning a fight or contest
wacky – informal adjective – unusual in a pleasing and exciting or silly way. Eg She paints rather wacky pictures, but people usually love them.
roadkill – birds and animals such as pheasants, or deer that have been killed by vehicles on roads
nickname – informal name for a person or thing, especially one based on your proper name or your character
