Look at this information on population statistics from 2014 and write an introduction to a possible IELTS Task 1 essay about the first 3 tables.

 

Now look at the following data and write an introduction for each of them:

Introductions General Training

Look at these three letter topics. Try to write the opening sentence for each of them.

  1. An Australian friend is coming to visit you, and it will be his/her birthday during the visit.

    Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

    ·         say how you feel about the visit

    ·         suggest what you could do on his/her birthday

    ·         try to find out what your friend thinks of your idea

  2. Write a letter to one of your old teachers asking for a reference. In your letter:

    ·         say what job you have applied for

    ·         explain why you want this job

    ·         suggest what information the teacher should include

  3. You recently stayed in a hotel in a large city. The weather was very unusual for the time of year and the heating / cooling system in the hotel was quite inadequate.

    Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter:

    ·         give details of what went wrong

    ·         explain what you had to do to overcome the problem at the time

    ·         say what action you would like the manager to take
