Journalist strike at French Le Monde – news bulletin
Journalist strike at French Le Monde
Journalists go on strike at respected French daily Le Monde, for only the second time in the paper’s history.
Workers were protesting over heavy cuts in newsroom staff at the newspaper, which is read by around 2 million people each day. But like many other media groups, Le Monde has been hit by declining advertising revenues and increased competition from other news sources such as the internet.
