To pace oneself – to do sth steadily, without straining or making too much effort in order not to become over-tired or run out of energy
To be forward – adj – to be bold / over-familiar in manner
To pull / tug at your heartstrings – plural noun – to cause strong feelings of love or sympathy for s.o. or sth.
Eg The death of Little Nell in Dickens’s novel "The Old Curiosity Shop’ is intended to really tug at your heartstrings.
to trudge – walk slowly with heavy steps, typically because of exhaustion or harsh conditions
a jaunt -a short excursion for pleasure
just a jaunt – nothing but a short excursion for pleasure
hindsight – understanding of an event or situation only after it has happened
to say sth with hindsight – to say sth with the benefit of knowing now what you did not know before you did sth, or before sth happened
a one-off – informal – sth you will probably only ever do once, and never repeat
