Labelling maps and plans preparation exercise – answers – Lesson 43

Download the transcript on the right and check your answers – were your predictions correct?

As you can see from the previous part of the conversation the student is speaking to a tutor who is trying to help her to ‘find her feet’ at university.

At the beginning of the conversation the tutor gives a starting point – Dalton House.

Using our ‘common sense’ we can see that the lecture buildings and labs are all in the same place and the more ‘student non-academic buildings’ (cafeteria) are also in the same area. The bank could be here too but if we listen for confirmation of a prediction then we can find that we are not always correct on everything and need to choose another location.

This is fine as we have only made predictions and in the listening we are testing these – the listening tells us if we are correct or not and helps us to adjust to the correct answers
