Lesson 70 – Check your Reading
Test yourself in reading
Get your reading level now by trying this reading exercise and then setting targets for reading that you will try to achieve by a certain date.
When you have completed the reading (try to do this one in one hour as per the exam) go over it again after checking the answers and make sure that you REALLY know why you got things wrong. If you are not sure then check the Step by Step lessons for that topic to help you.
Let’s do this under exam conditions
- Choose a time when you can have a full hour without interruptions.
- Find a quiet place and make sure you have everything you need to do the reading test under exam conditions.
- Have you done everything you must do before sitting down (go to the toilet, any little jobs, settled your children etc…)
- Have you got pen, pencil and paper? Answer sheet to transfer answers etc.
- Have you got water to drink (or whatever you need)
- Have you got a clock or something to time yourself – set an alarm to show you when you have reached 20 minutes just as in the exam.
- Don’t get up until your ‘exam’ is finished.
- Put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door or tell everybody NOT to disturb you!
- Now get started
- After the hour – take a break before you check your answers
