What do you think school will be like in 50 years?
This is a typical part three question
Let’s begin with some tips and advice
- Using imagination needs speculation and to speculate we usually use modal verbs.
- Modal verbs = would, could, may, might, need etc.
- Check these out in your grammar book (or online) make sure that you can use them well.
- We can also use conditional sentences – if + present simple + will + infinitive (no ‘to’) "If technology continues to develop the world of education will look very different in 50 years".
- We can also use 2nd conditional = If + would + past simple + infinitive (no ‘to’). "If the world had peace then all children would go to school".
- If you have these questions conjure up an imaginary situation in your head that you can describe e.g All children would stay at home and learn via the internet.
- Imagination might also come into part two – you may be asked to describe something that you will have in the future – as car, a house , a job etc…
- Y.
- In the future things like certainty play a part so think about this, also speculation (you may need modal verbs too)
- Remember practice is the key!

- Go on to google and find some futuristic information this may be imaginary future situations – google imagination, the future – be creative!.
- Watch this video and see if you can describe on in terms of an imaginary future ( will be/might be/could be etc..)
