Madagascar army seizes presidency
Mar. 16 – Gunfire is heard in Madagascar’s capital as tanks storm the presidential palace after the military joins opposition leader Andry Rajoelina in his power struggle with the president.
The fierce power struggle on the Indian Ocean island has triggered a military mutiny, leaving at least 100 people dead since January 2009. Neena Dhaun reports.
