Man crosses channel with jet pack

2. Yves Rossy became the first person to fly solo across the English Channel using his home made wing.
3. Jet man Rossy leaped from a plane 10,000 feet high, fired up the 4 kerosene jets of his wing and flew the 35 kilometre stretch of the English Channel before deploying his parachute and landing safely in Dover.
4. Poor weather over the Channel had postponed the flight for 2 days.
5. Friday’s weather held no such problems and the flight went according to plan.
6. Rossy even had enough spare fuel for a few loops over the watching crowd.
7. Speaking after the flight, Rossy speculated on the future of his invention.
8. I hope that many people will have the opportunity to fly like this. With that crossing, I showed that it’s possible to fly a little bit like a bird and I’m full of hope that we will be many in the near future.
