To bust sth is to correct some misinformation about sth – it is more of an American term than a British one.
The verb used in English is to explode a myth.
To be put off doing sth – to be discouraged from doing sth
to go about doing sth – to start doing sth
oomph – informal – also umph – energy, motivation, maybe sexual attractiveness (but not here).
"He’s not got much oomph" informal = he isn’t very dynamic, is not very forceful or energetic.
They could do with new homes = they need
*Eg I could do with a new car = I need a new car.
