It suggests that the parents are pre-occupied with the day to day, they are overburdened with cleaning, tidying, looks and the inability to be free of these unlike the children.
There are lots of imperatives here (commands). All the examples of child behaviour cited are ‘parent centric’ i.e. how it affects them and their lives. There is much frustration on the part of the parent but very little insight into the life of the child. Even the last verse shows things that please the parents.
There are 4 stanzas of negative content to only one of positive. This helps to build the frustration but also shows an imbalance.
There are lots to choose from mine would be; puzzled (what’s so important about all this stuff?), brow-beaten (will they ever stop with the nagging?) and exasperation (don’t they ever listen!)
