A: Can I have a word?

B: Er, yes of course. Do you mean now?

A: Yes Please.

 

A: I don’t know how to say this so I’ll get straight to the point. The decision has been taken to reduce the staff size in this department and it will be necessary to make some redundancies. I’m afraid your job is one of the ones that has been earmarked for redundancy.

B: You can’t be serious! Why have I been chosen?

A: I realise that this must be a shock and the company will offer any help you need through the process and to prepare you to seek employment elsewhere.

B: Thank you. This is going to take some time to sink in. I’d like to take the afternoon off if possible
