1. 1. Tecwyn’s wife is half-Irish. (T ‘her father is English, her mother was Irish’)

2. She moved to Canada during the war. (F ‘She spent the war years in Ireland.’)

3. Tecwyn met his wife at work. (T ‘How did you two meet up?’ ‘We worked together in London.’)

4. Tecwyn spent some time in the Far East as a soldier. (T ‘I’d done a tour out in the Far East with the army’)

5. On arriving in Canada, Tecwyn worked at his bank’s head office for several months. (F ‘I was there for about two or three days’)

8. After Montreal he spent the next five years in Winnipeg. (T ‘I was there for four summers and five winters.’ i.e. five years)

9. During one winter in Winnipeg the temperature stayed above -25C for a fortnight. (F ‘there was er, one winter there where the temperature didn’t come above 25 degrees below zero for two weeks’)

10. Tecwyn then went to work for a different bank in Vancouver. (F ‘I was transferred to Vancouver’ i.e. by the same bank)

11. Vancouver is Tecwyn’s favourite city in Canada. (T ‘Um, of all the places you’ve been to in Canada, do you prefer Vancouver?’ ‘Absolutely.’)
12. Tecwyn was in Vancouver at the time of this interview. (F ‘The climate is very much as it is here in the UK.‘)
