My personal interests and expectations to the workshops

Since I was a teenager I’ve been into computers. I started having contact with computers when I finished a course in typing – yes, believe me, I took a course to be able to type correctly in typing machines!!!!

As I started working with computers and soon after I started teaching children how to use the computer, this wonderful machine took part in my life definitely with no return. I don’t use the computer to play games, actually. I prefer to use it as a tool for my work or studies.

In my free time, I like watching some TV series, dancing a little, going to the cinema and relaxing at home – I just love my home!

I can’t say that I absolutely love reading, but when there’s a topic of my interest and I get interested in a certain issue, I do read a couple of things in order to get better informed and build my own opinion about it, so I read magazines, books and articles or blogs on the internet. I must confess that thick books frighten me a bit…for example, it’s a shame, but I haven’t read any of Harry Potter’s books or The Lord of the Rings either. On the other hand, I’ve watched all the films – some of them more than 3 times!

I really expect to share some of my experience as a student and as a teacher with Berni and my fellow attendees, and gain a lot from it. I’m reading ‘The Wuthering Heights’ now in English – I’ve read it twice in a Portuguese version some years ago when I was at university, and I’m sure that the programmed visits will be extremely beneficial for me because I feel particularly interested in cultural aspects of the English language, and I also feel it will be wonderful for me as a person and a teacher.

Above all, the chance to get together and focused during about a week, talking, reading, discussing, and sharing knowledge about so many different aspects of our ‘English world’ will make wonders to all of us, no matter how long we are teaching or dealing with ELT.
