PETALS

As petals fall from a dying rose
So we have bloomed and now fall apart
Petal by petal we part
What held us together gradually
lets loose it’s hold
and we fall.
Petal edges, tainted and windblown
loosened and shed in soft breezes
to fall gently, alone
lying forlorn and lost.
Cut off from its life- blood
Fragments of our life together
have fallen, loosened by storms
and failing vitality
weakened and aged.
Cut off from our life-blood
We drop apart
as petals from a dying rose.
