President Musharraf resigns

Aug 18 – The Pakistani President said he was resigning for the "sake of the nation" and not to avoid impeachment charges.

In a televised address to the nation, the Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has announced his resignation.

It follows mounting pressure from ruling coalition parties which announced they would launch impeachment charges against the president.
