To write sth upphrasal verb – to write something in a complete or final form using notes that you have made
write-upnoun – a report or article which makes a judgment about something, such as a play or film – eg The critic gave the film a glowing write-up.
to google (also spelled to Google) refers to using the Google search engine to obtain information on the Web
an updatenoun – a new form of something which existed at an earlier time
layout – the way something is arranged on a page, or in a room of the furniture
draft – a piece of text, formal suggestion or drawing in its original state, often containing the main ideas and intentions but not the developed form, eg I’ve put together a rough draft of a lesson plan – but you’ll need to go through it and adapt it.
He’s checking the (first) draft of the library’s application for funds.
editor – person who corrects or changes pieces of text or films before they are printed or shown, or a person who is in charge of a newspaper or magazine
a commissioning editor – person who authorises authors to produce works for publication
proofreadverb – find and correct mistakes in proofs (= copies of printed text) before the final copies are printed
proofreader – person whose job is to correct mistakes in books before they are printed
copyeditor – person whose job is to read and edit text for a newspaper, magazine or book before they are printed
