Question

Some people feel that certain workers like doctors, nurses and teachers are undervalued and should be paid more, especially when others such as celebrities, sports stars and business bosses are paid huge sums which are out of proportion to the importance of the work they do.

• How far do you agree?
• What criteria should be used to decide how much people are paid?

 

Introduction:

Nowadays celebrities whether, film actors or sport players live a very luxurious life, thanks to the astronomical salaries they are paid. This growing phenomenon has aroused a heated dispute in some sectors of the community. People argue that doctors and teachers are not appreciated enough financially compared with celebrities.

 

First paragraph:

First of all, no one can argue that some professionals such as doctors, nurses, scientists and teachers make invaluable contributions to the development of any society. Although they are responsible for the healthcare and education of generations, they are paid far less than the well-known celebrities. So, what are the standards and bases which determine how much each one is paid? It would seem that there is an imbalance between what we value as a society compared with what constitutes true value to society.
