Respect for the Countryside

This short animation video (or watch below) was created by academy-award winning Aardman Animations to help promote the Countryside Code using new Creature Comforts characters and countryside against sets of moorland, coast and farmland. It has been screened on TV channels across England and Wales and at selected cinemas and outdoor venues as a free ‘public service announcement’.

There are various messages here about the Countryside Code – i.e. basic rules people should respect when out in the country. Some of the rules are not particularly explicit – but they are implicit. Can you deduce which ones are ‘spelled out’ – i.e. made clear?

Dogs should be kept on a lead.
Do not disturb animals in their natural habitat.
Do not vandalise signposts.
Take your litter home.
Do not trespass.
Don’t be noisy.
Do not treat farmers’ fields as if they were a playground.
Check dogs don’t foul the countryside.
Be sure you have appropriate clothing for a change of weather.
Shut gates behind you.
Don’t spoil other people’s peace and quiet.
Do not allow your dog to worry sheep.
