Russia Ukraine sign gas deal

Jan 19 – Russia and Ukraine agree on a price for gas in 2009, clearing the way to restore gas supplies to Europe, where millions have been without Russian fuel in mid-winter.

Ukraine will buy Russian gas in 2009 for 20 percent less than European market prices.
