The football season is drawing to a close, just the FA Cup & European Championship final to go where English clubs are involved.
There was a dramatic climax to the Premiership season with West Ham staying up courtesy of their victory & Wigan beating Sheffield Utd to retain their place in the Premiership next season. Sheffield Utd were relegated along with Charlton & Watford. It’s ironical that Tevez scored the winner for West Ham since he is the source of the legal disputes concerning West Ham’s transfer dealings earlier in the season.
My thoughts are now turning to cricket & tennis. It’s a shame but Andy Murray, Britain’s latest tennis star, suffered an injury and is likely to miss the French Open later this month. He is now in the world top 10 and no doubt the media in Britain will be imposing the same sort of pressures on him as they did on Tim Henman.
In cricket the first Test match between West Indies and England starts this Thursday. Matt Prior is the new wicketkeeper, he used to be coached at Sussex by the new England coach, Peter Moores. One hopes he’s been picked purely on merit!
