This week I want to ask "Why do so many people in England hate Manchester United?"
If you ask followers of football about Man Utd, they will either say they hate them or they love them, not much in between. I have to say that this season they have played far and away the best &, important for the fans of football, most entertaining football in the English Premiership. The way they came back against Everton this weekend from 2-0 down to win 4-2 was a fine example of their never say die attitude and relentless attacking gameplan. I certainly fall in the "love ’em" camp and have always admired their attacking & open approach to the game. It was only when they adopted a more defensive and negative in the 1970s that they truly failed (relegation from the top division). Why do people hate Man Utd? They certainly have a certain amount of arrogance and also there is likely to be a certain amount of jealousy.
Anything else catch your attention this weekend just gone?Australia were the easy winners of the ICC Cricket World Cup, I guess they could be considered to be the Man Utd of cricket, always at or near the top of the rankings, playing fine cricket but have a substantial number of cricket followers who dislike them. Must be a jealousy thing, bit like the real Man Utd?
Bye for now, will be back next week unless there are replies worth commenting on in the meantime!
