Task 1 – complete essay

 

We will be building up this essay day by day as we go through the exercises on paragraphs.

Academic Module – Task 1

 

Introduction

The table gives an overview of the number of the sports injuries, the percentage requiring hospitalisation and the sites of those injuries across different sports in Australia. All sports persons in the survey were over 15 years.

 

first paragraph:

It is clear that Australian football players sustain the maximum number of injuries at 24%, which is around three times higher than soccer coming second with 9.2% of injuries. The sports with the least proportion of injuries are Squash and Volleyball with a percentage of just 1.9%. The remaining sports fall in a range of 2%to 8%.

 

second paragraph:

 

When it comes to injuries requiring hospitalisation, we see a different pattern emerge. Australian Football only accounts for 7.5% of hospital admissions compared with Rugby at 10.9% and Squash comes in fourth place on the list with 6.4%. Football and Soccer players sustain the largest proportion of serious injury and Volleyball again has the lowest score, 2.2% making it the safest sport on the table.

The diagram shows the parts of the body where most injuries occur and we can see that ankles sustain the most injuries at 37% followed by shoulders at 21%.

 

 

General Training – Task 1 letter

 

Introduction

Dear Sir/Madam,

 

I am a third year student living in Unit 10, Block 5 of College House. As I am currently under severe stress regarding certain difficulties with my college roommate, I seek immediate attention to my case.

 

first paragraph

One of the problems, which has become too unbearable, is the filth and dust in the room. As a result if this, I developed breathing difficulties recently. This has adversely affected my health and study as I had to stay indoors to rest. The doctor has advised that I should be on a two-week course of medication until full recovery can be seen. Despite much pleading with my roommate to help in tidying up and cleaning the room, there was no co-operation on his part.

 

second paragraph:

Another pertinent issue that has caused a lack of sleep and rest, as well as adding to the respiratory illness, is the noise and cigarette smoke emitting into the room. Quite often friends are brought in late to drink and smoke in the room. I am running out of solutions to resolve these challenging circumstances. Although I have had some serious discussions with him, nothing has been done to rectify the situation.

I therefore wish to ask for your kind consideration to transfer me to a single room apartment very soon. I look forward to receiving your prompt reply.
