- The smoke is coming from buildings that have been set in fire. NE: we only know the smoke is rising, nothing is mentioned about its source
- Protesters are in small groups. T: ‘small groups of protesters’
- The petrol bombs are being thrown just outside the business district in Bangkok. T: at the check point leading to the business district
- People in Bangkok are unable to go to the shops. NE: we know the protesters are camped there but we are not told if people are unable to visit the shops
- The government will not try to remove the protesters. F: they have ‘vowed’ to remove them
- The soldiers have been very calm in their dealings with the protesters. F: they have been ‘heavy-handed’ i.e. violent
