If you have had your chips – informal – you have lost or missed the opportunity to do / have sth. Eg ‘I’d like to go to the beach’. "Well, you’ve had your chips – the bus has just left." It can also mean to be dead or out of contention. So ‘this fish and chip shop has had its chips’ = it is no longer viable.
