Wishing your life away – C
After wish and if (only) you can use were instead of was:
- She wishes she was / were taller.
- I wish I was / were more attractive.
- If only he was / were more practical he could decorate the house himself.
We do not use ‘would in the if part of a sentence or after ‘wish‘:
- If he bought her some flowers she would forgive him
- We wish we had something to do.
