A Writer’s Plea

writer's plea poem

Sometimes I choose the subject,

more often, it chooses me!

Set me a challenge,

I’d meet it……

SO WHY WON’T THEY PUBLISH ME?

I am a champion wordsmith,

a Master of my trade.

Iambic pentameter and rhyming

are just rules I can disobey!

I choose to write as I wish,

in my own, inimitable style.

I can share my work with others,

but some I just write and file.

Iambic pentameter is a type of meter used in poetry and drama. It describes a particular rhythm that the words establish in each line. William Shakespeare regularly used this method of writing in his plays.

If somebody has an ‘inimitable‘ style, they have a style that is unique and impossible to imitate.
